Taiwan stocks end higher; Compal slumps on outlook

TAIPEI, Sept 2 (Reuters) – Taiwan stocks closed 0.69 percent
higher on Thursday, after strong economic data from the United
States and China cheered investors globally, though Compal
Electronics (2324.TW) slumped on a weak outlook.

The main TAIEX share index .TWII rose 52.57 points to
7,720.82, pulling back after rising as much 1.46 percent earlier
in the session.

Compal tumbled 2.5 percent after it forecast a weak third
quarter [ID:nTOE68007A]. The broader electronics sub-index
.TELI rose 0.7 percent while the financial sector .TFNI rose
0.4 percent.
