DEVOTEES IN the pilgrim town of Kancheepuram are shocked by the revelation that a temple priest indulged in sexual activities in the sanctum sanctoram of the Machaesa Perumal temple, a famous shrine.
What is surprising is the fact that the culprit Devanathan, a 36-year old priest indulged in sexual acts even as devotees waited outside to perform puja and pay obeisance. Devanathan was on the run for a month and he surrendered to the police on Monday. His bail has been rejected.
The priest not only indulged in amoral acts but also recorded them on his mobile phone. This however lead to his uncovering as a mobile phone mechanic found the explicit scenes, while repairing his phone and brought it to the notice of general public.
