A Kalgoorlie man has been found guilty of bashing and kidnapping a teenager on the Goldfields.
Michael McKay Starr has been on trial in the District Court in Perth accused of being one of three men who assaulted the 17 year old before driving him to bushland outside Kalgoorlie in April last year.
The court was told Starr and his two co-accused used a number of weapons to again bash the boy, before leaving him lying on the ground.
It took the jury nearly four hours yesterday afternoon to find Starr guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and endangering another’s life.
However, he was cleared of any involvement in the bushland assault of the boy with the jury finding him not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm.
His two co-accused, Dallas Ross Eriha and Joseph Davison Williams, have both pleaded guilty to their involvement in the incident.
All three men will be sentenced next month.
