DataCert Accepts Top Honor for Legal Technology Implementation of the Year

by mani on September 3, 2010

LONDON, Sep 02 (MARKET WIRE) —
DataCert, Inc., the leading global provider of software and services for
the legal industry, has been named winner of the Technology
Implementation of the Year award from the International Legal Technology
Association (ILTA). ILTA presented the award during their annual
conference to acknowledge outstanding achievement by a vendor
organisation for exceptional technology implementation for a client
during the past year. DataCert’s accolade is due to the successful
international implementation of AIMS (Advanced Invoice Management
System), its legal spend management solution, for a Fortune Global 50
healthcare company based in Switzerland. The implementation covered the
company’s Group Legal and IP divisions and spanned 14 business units,
primarily in the U.S. and Europe.

“Until now, a global legal spend management solution implementation of
this magnitude was unprecedented in the industry and receiving this award
from ILTA recognises the tremendous partnership DataCert established with
the client,” said Jim Tallman, president and chief executive officer,
DataCert. “This project required a globally-compliant solution, backed by
a partner with the necessary resources and implementation experience in
EMEA and North America. This award is a testimony to the partnership with
this international organisation and the differentiation in our global
capabilities in the market place.”

The AIMS implementation allowed the Europe-based health organisation to
attain a comprehensive view of its global legal spend, tighten the
enforcement of outside counsel guidelines, and reduce legal spend through
electronic invoicing. As a part of the implementation that covered more
than 90 percent of the company’s global legal spend, more than 230
vendors were on boarded. With these business partners located in more
than 100 countries and each country having its own tax and billing
regulations, it was critical for the legal spend management system to
support the unique regulatory rules of each jurisdiction.

“DataCert has a complete EMEA team committed to exceeding expectations
for even the most complex implementations,” said Rajitha Boer, vice
president/director, EMEA business development, DataCert, Inc. “The
project was completed on time and within budget because of the thorough
and consistent communication between DataCert and the client.”

DataCert has been at the forefront of supporting global organisations’
move away from dated technology practices where there were several
instances of various systems that were not integrated and did not allow
for centralised management of a global legal function. This situation was
often necessitated by the set of differing and complex regulatory rules
in various jurisdictions, a challenge that DataCert and the healthcare
company were able to overcome. With operations teams in the U.S. and
Europe, DataCert is the only legal spend and matter management vendor
with the global capabilities required to successfully implement a project
of this complexity.

“On behalf of ILTA, I’d like to congratulate this year’s Distinguished
Peer Award winners,” said Randi Mayes, executive director of ILTA. “We
are proud to recognise exceptional technology projects and the champions
of those projects, and I applaud and celebrate our winners for sharing
their successes.”
